Pulled Hamstrings

Can Physiotherapy Heal My Pulled Hamstring?

The body has three hamstring muscles that run down the back side of the upper thigh. These three muscles bend the knee and also slightly help extend the hip.

Hamstrings are often injured during sports that involve rapid changes in speed, during heavy lifts, or during activities that cause the leg to be torqued in different directions.

Hamstring injuries often feel like sharp pains that run down the back of the leg and can sometimes include large areas of bruising.

At MOMENTUM Physical Therapy in Okotoks, we routinely treat hamstring injuries and return our clients to full function quickly and effectively. Rehab for hamstring injuries involves hands on therapy, stretching, and progressive strengthening exercises. Hamstrings that are not properly treated become weak points for future injury.

If you are dealing with any hamstring pain, call MOMENTUM Physical Therapy in Okotoks today to find out how we can help you get back to your full potential quickly. You can reach us at 403-982-5600, Monday-Friday 7am - 8pm!

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Can Physiotherapy Help Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) refers to a condition that occurs when a nerve gets compressed at the wrist. This compression results in numbness in the palm of the hand, weakness in the hand, and a feeling of a loss of dexterity.

There are many causes of CTS that can include repetitive movements, pregnancy, and injury. People often associate CTS with the need for surgery, however, many cases of CTS can be reduced and resolved quickly without going under the knife.

A MOMENTUM Physical Therapy physiotherapist will assess your symptoms and determine the cause of your CTS. They can then provide hands on treatment, home exercises, and splinting (if necessary) to help reduce your symptoms. Successful treatment usually involves 6-8 sessions and results in reduction of your symptoms.

If you are dealing with CTS, or any other hand numbness, call MOMENTUM Physical Therapy & Sports Rehab in Okotoks today to find out how we can help! 403-982-5600
