Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Can Physiotherapy Help Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) refers to a condition that occurs when a nerve gets compressed at the wrist. This compression results in numbness in the palm of the hand, weakness in the hand, and a feeling of a loss of dexterity.

There are many causes of CTS that can include repetitive movements, pregnancy, and injury. People often associate CTS with the need for surgery, however, many cases of CTS can be reduced and resolved quickly without going under the knife.

A MOMENTUM Physical Therapy physiotherapist will assess your symptoms and determine the cause of your CTS. They can then provide hands on treatment, home exercises, and splinting (if necessary) to help reduce your symptoms. Successful treatment usually involves 6-8 sessions and results in reduction of your symptoms.

If you are dealing with CTS, or any other hand numbness, call MOMENTUM Physical Therapy & Sports Rehab in Okotoks today to find out how we can help! 403-982-5600
