Ankle Pain

Can Physical Therapy Help My Achilles Tendinitis?

The Achilles tendon, located near the heel on the back of the leg, helps you run, jump and walk.  When it becomes damaged or injured, you will start to feel pain in the back of the heel and calf.

Achilles tendon injuries often start out as Achilles tendinitis.  This often occurs as a result of overusing the tendon.  Symptoms include burning  and pain on the back of the leg by the heel, swelling, stiffness, and sometimes, a small bump will form.  We often see an influx of these injuries in the spring as people begin to get more active after our long winters!

Our therapists at MOMENTUM are trained to treat this condition by identifying the cause of your tendonitis, delivering hands on therapy, and providing specific exercises to heal your injured tendon.

If Achilles pain is creeping into your life and limiting your ability to walk, run or play sports, don’t wait! Call MOMENTUM Physical Therapy today at 403-982-5600.
